'Believe, Excite, Succeed, Together'
Safeguarding
At Welbourn CE Primary School, we regard the safeguarding of children as our main priority. We believe that we all have the right to be happy and safe. We all have the responsibility for safeguarding.
We listen to our pupils and take seriously what they tell us. All school staff are trained in Child Protection, and children are made aware of the adults they can talk to if they have any concerns. Staff are trained to look out for signs of physical/emotional harm or neglect and are required to report these to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
Our Safeguarding Lead in school is: Mrs Anna Ingamells
Our Deputy Safeguarding Lead in school is: Miss Becky Hope
Our Safeguarding Governor is: Mr Neil Benton
We ensure that:
- The welfare of the child remains paramount.
- All children whatever their age, culture, disability, gender, language, racial origin, religious beliefs and/ or sexual identity have the right to be protected from harm.
- All suspicions and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately.
- All staff and volunteers working at our school have a responsibility to report concerns to the Safeguarding Lead or Deputy Safeguarding Lead.
- All staff and volunteers working within school will undertake training with the Designated Safeguarding Lead to ensure that systems and procedures for reporting concerns are known and understood and that a culture of vigilance is created.
- All safeguarding procedures are audited on a regular basis to ensure that they are effective and robust.
Operation Encompass
At Welbourn CE Primary School we are involved with Operation Encompass, working in partnership with Lincolnshire Police. Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools prior to 9am the following day, when a child or young person has been involved in or been exposed to a domestic incident. The information is given to a trained ‘Key Adult’ within the school. The child can then be supported with silent or overt support.
If you have any concerns and would like support please speak to staff in school who can arrange for you to speak with Mrs Ingamells. We can discuss the early help process with you and how the school can best support your family.
If you observe anything that concerns you surrounding the safety of a child outside of school hours, please contact:
Lincolnshire’s Children’s Services on 01522 782111 or 01522 782333 if between 6pm and 8am.
